What the Jalan plan is: Special room in the Yoshino building (Tatsuta / Yoshino rooms), dinner and breakfast served in-room, in-room hot-spring bath. Tax and service included; ¥300 hot spring tax for 2 adults on top. Same price on all three dates — for this property, in this window, Jalan only ever surfaces the top-tier room, and Booking.com surfaces nothing. Jalan lists no room-only or breakfast-only plan here, and the Yoshino room doesn't take children of primary-school age or younger.

The pattern: Booking.com is cheaper on breakfast-only stays on all three dates. But Booking.com shows NO dinner-included rate on any of the three dates — dinner there requires a separate advance reservation, price not shown. A traveler wanting breakfast and dinner has only the Jalan option, and on Nov 11 Jalan had no half-board plan either. Jalan's "sale" prices are a 5%-off promotion that can only be booked until Oct 29, 2026; after that, expect the standard price. Jalan also offered a ¥5,000 coupon on the page, not counted here. Rooms compared are Forestwing 41 m² twins (forest side) where offered. On Nov 11 neither site had a Forestwing room: Booking.com's 41 m² Comfy Lodge Deluxe Twin and Jalan's cheapest breakfast room, the 33–35 m² Historic Twin, are used. Booking.com's lowest Fujiya rates carried "Genius" and "Late Escape" discount badges even for a visitor who wasn't signed in, and it says members may see lower prices.

The pattern: Availability itself swings by date — Jalan had nothing on two dates, then had rooms on the third. A traveler checking once, on one platform, gets an incomplete picture. On Dec 2 the ¥4,400 gap is not a clean price gap: Jalan's plans are no-meal, Booking's includes breakfast. On Nov 11 and 18 Booking.com offered room only, with breakfast as a ¥1,100 add-on (the page doesn't say whether that is per person). The Dec 2 Jalan plan is paid at the property, but asks for a 50% deposit by bank transfer 5 days before the stay.

The pattern: The most consistent gap in the test — Jalan cheaper on all three dates, ~30% on discounted prices, narrower on standing prices. Rooms are genuinely comparable (~35 m² twins, no private bath on either site; rooms with a shower cost more). Note the trade-offs: Jalan's cheapest rates are sale/early-discount plans with earlier free-cancellation deadlines. On Booking.com the cheapest breakfast rate on Nov 11 and 18 is non-refundable and its free-cancellation rates cost more; on Dec 2 every Booking.com rate carried a 10% property discount with free cancellation. Also note: Booking.com does not state its own hot spring tax amount — the ¥300 used here is Jalan's stated figure for the same property, applied to both sides. Jalan's 10%-off "sale" plan can only be booked until Oct 29, 2026; on Dec 2 an early-booking plan matches it.

Jalan's best inventory is often Japanese-only. This is how to use it without reading Japanese. An illustrated, step-by-step version with screenshots is coming.
- Start from the property's Japanese Jalan page (linked above), not English Jalan search — several properties here don't surface in English search.
- Pick your date, 1 room, 2 adults. Plans are listed per plan, not per room — read the meal line first: 食事なし = no meals, 朝のみ = breakfast only, 朝・夕 = breakfast and dinner.
- Remember the price is per person. Double it for two adults, then add ¥150/adult/night hot spring tax, which is shown separately.
- Most plans here are online-card-payment only. Check the cancellation table on the plan itself — free-cancellation deadlines vary by plan and are often earlier than Booking.com's.
- A submitted booking generally cannot be changed, only cancelled — get dates and room right before confirming.
- If a plan says 1 room left (あと1部屋), treat it as live — it can sell while you compare.
What this guide does not do: it does not book for you. You complete the booking on Jalan yourself, under Jalan's terms. If a plan's terms are unclear in translation, contact the property before booking.
